lapse the fourth: deciding
he said nothing
had to do with torment
and aches were like the quiet quills
of the rotting porcupine
occupying the back door
stoop.
"torment was its own
beast" dallying in introspect
and loose corners of soul and i
said, "what's that?"
a pause diminished his point
but somehow sounded
deeper than a gavel
or song deciding
its grace lie
far away
from
every corner of eternity
and i said
"what's that?"
had to do with torment
and aches were like the quiet quills
of the rotting porcupine
occupying the back door
stoop.
"torment was its own
beast" dallying in introspect
and loose corners of soul and i
said, "what's that?"
a pause diminished his point
but somehow sounded
deeper than a gavel
or song deciding
its grace lie
far away
from
every corner of eternity
and i said
"what's that?"

to be sure the series of THE LAPSE is, as you say, abstract if taken as a whole...that is to say, the poems seek no other paradigm than to destroy that which are the plain hours of days...to gently annhilate those moments of ennui and mundane heartbeats...THE LAPSE itself is intended to offer the pause, restrospect, re-verse of dull humanity...admittedly my own, but necessarily others as well...its only true cohesion is this need for annhilation and pause within the moment rekindled...i harken baudelaire's words in TWO AM or some shit where he speaks of insincere gestures, static moments of death, battle against ennui; also add a dash of eliot's lines from GERONITION "to be eaten to be divided to be drunk among whispers"...taken together they agree upon a sort of paradox that plagues what's left of my spirit, namely that even in the dull moments this soul of mine poesy is drunk with craving and imagination, however it is paralyzed by the sheer futility of circumstance(s)...as such the voice lingers like a clothesline somewhere between dance and station, betweeen the clouds and the ground...but ultimately the lapse, the pause, the moment between, the diastases is not only where poetry is stuck, but also the spirit...appreciative of your careful readings and re-readings...my hope is said lapse will provide its own sense, or lack thereof, when concluded
Looks nice! Awesome content. Good job guys.
